Spring-NEWS from Hungary (Hungarian Telecottage Association) – MW-Sonet Project

In 2010, HTA celebrates its 15th Birthday! 

On 28-29th May, in Budapest, there will be set our National Telecentre Conference. We are organizing this event. Our aims: present our telecentre movement, experiences, best practices. We would like to organize an exhibition of telecentre-relics of the past 15 years (memories, old PC, documents, articles, gifts etc).

Further aims: presentation new ideas, model programmes for the participating telecentre managers, workers to the professional developing of their work.

Why? As a national scale organization has been selected the co-community partners, centers and small entrepreneurs, who is also involved in the telecentres movement. They (key-persons) help to reach 'the secondary” target group, thus facilitating the entry into the labor market. The organizations are able to achieve a wide variety of activities for different age of women.

Feedback: The feedback of the target groups was very variety. We used to hoped, we get more information from the poorest region (HU31) but it did not. Feedbacks were sent from HU32, HU33, HU21 and HU10. The HU32 is an other interesting area with problem of unemployment and ethnic.

They are interested in the continuation and learning material of this project. The project was addressed as news to the Telecentre managers via official web page of HTA.

Promote: Disseminations by the conference-times to regional telecentre partners

HTA has written a tender (supported by EU and Grundtvig LLP – „Seniors in Action”) to the hungarian telecentres.

Topic: Develop of the elder people’s digital competencies. There are some opportunities of the international contacts, best practices. Aim: promote of LLL (adult learning), cooperation activities, PC-knowledge, english language course. The winner telecentre is in Röszke.

Partners of the prject: Romania, Czech Republic, France, Lithuanian, Italy, Poland, Turkey.

Our colleagues have showed the result and project progress of HTA in Antalya in April.

In the hungarian project, participating elder people, who are members, staff or volunteers of NGO’s. Indicators: 26 candidates, average age: 59 years, the oldest 71, the youngest 48 years old.  They are interested in the Internet world but approximately 2/3 of the candidates have not yet taken part in any projects. Elder people are open to this programme. www.telehaz.hu


HTA has part in the Norwey Grunts /civil funding/. We have more programmes from that budget. The latest programme will be: set a film about HTA. It has latest news and of course details from our 15 yeras experiements (retro-movie).

In our 7 telecentre-regions, there are organized more conferences, courses. We could support the telecentres. http://www.norvegcivilalap.hu/


Digital activities of Youth: in Hungary, there was closed the so called Net-President campaing competition. Nearly ten thousand people moved to the final game. On this page / www.legyelte.hu/ people could vote to the candidates and their staff (April, 2010). 2011 – year of the Volunteers.

HTA prepare own volunteer-programme to support the opportunities of that activity.

Of course, volunteers have worked for many years in the telecentres, but we would like to promote this, too.

Tenders for Youth. There are some grants to help the youth and organize some prevention-programmes during more years. Eg.: drug prevention, cultural- and learning programmes.

NGO’s offen use the non-formal study courses. More bigger organizations have join forces to support the hungarian youth.


HTA has part in a national programme (Infokoalíció). During that process, there a  special handbook was shaped: ’How do we get community development?’

The participants have talked in the Kossuth Radio.

Topics: How to try to persuade people to participate in the life of their own communities? Not risk-free business! How to create a situation to talk to people of their problems and responsibly to participate in its resolution? How can I add this tool into the hands of the people?
