75 th Hungarian National Agriculture and Food Exhibition
75th Jubilee Festival in Budapest, Hungary.
The National Agriculture and Food Exhibition (OMÉK), Hungary’s largest and oldest farming exhibition has a tradition of over 100 years.
The 75th OMÉK was opened for its visitors between 28 September–2 October in the Hungexpo Budapest Fair Centre.
The objective of the largest agriculture and food industry reviewed in Hungary to demonstrate the achievements of the past period, to present the ways of modern, effective, environment friendly farming, to inform consumers about the fact that the Hungarian products
Livestock demonstrations, the interactive attractions, fabulous cottages offering traditional food and drink and folk items, as well as stage programmes and quizzes. A huge PR and advertising campaign ensured a 100 000 strong attendance for OMÉK.
OMÉK 2011 had a great importance also from the aspect of agriculture diplomacy: Hungarian agriculture is considered a special colour spot in the European Union due to its natural endowments.
It was counted on the presence of leading agricultural politicians, several ministers and state secretaries from Hungary, other EU countries and from our neighbours.
Participants were: agriculture experts, farmers and urban visitors. Main topics: the priorities of the branch, formative power of the farming world shaping the whole country, and directions for future agriculture.
